Being a U-Student in Aberdeen

Let’s take a look at what Aberdeen city centre has to offer. Living in our modern ABeleven student accommodation on Willowbank Road, there are plenty of options on your doorstep.

Shop till you drop!

Union Square shopping centre is a short 10-minute walk from our building which offers food, drink, shopping, cinema and entertainment facilities. If you’re out with your friends and fancy a bite to eat, you’ll be spoilt for choice with food on offer from around the world.

Bon Accord centre, placed in heart of the city, also offers food, drink and some of the best brand clothing and technology shops. It’s also known for hosting the annual ‘Student Lock In’. Held during Freshers’ Week, participating shops offer up to 50% off high street brands so you can stock up your wardrobe with the latest trends.

There’s also the Trinity Centre on Aberdeen’s famous Granite Mile, a popular spot with shops including HMV and Debenhams. Located on Union Street, there’s always time to grab a Greggs sausage roll or a smoothie at the Zumo bar mid shopping trip!

Don’t forget all the independent shops around the city centre where you can find almost anything you need for student life.

Nightlife and Entertainment

Being a student in Aberdeen will mean nights out, and lots of them. The city’s nightlife caters for all tastes, whether it’s a fun night-out or a few sociable drinks.

Night life in Aberdeen is centred around Union Street, Belmont Street and Justice Mill Lane. Whatever night it is, there’s always a club open to dance the night away with friends.

Or maybe a night-out isn’t on the cards, why not take some time off studying and have a game of ten-pin bowling or 18-Hole mini-golf at Codonas down by city’s golden sand beach.

Keeping fit

There are many opportunities to keep fit whilst being a student, so there’s nae excuse!

University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon University and North East Scotland College offer gym and fitness facilities. Sport Aberdeen’s Linx Ice Arena is a popular venue for ice skating and has a modern gym with the latest equipment. Or why not have a swim at Aberdeen Sports Village’s Olympic sized swimming pool.

Travel Hubs

Bus and train links run regularly alongside Union Square shopping centre. Aberdeen Railway Station offers direct travel to towns and cities such as Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, London, Dyce and Inverurie.

Or if you fancy taking to the skies, Aberdeen International Airport is just a 20-minute drive from Willowbank Road and easily accessible on public transport.
