Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is always a fun filled celebration and comes this year on Saturday 28th January. Did you know that the Chinese zodiac is based off a cycle of 12 animals? This year is the year of the rooster and here are some fun facts to share.

  • The Rooster is the 10th animal of 12 in the Chinese zodiac cycle. The other animals are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, dog and pig.

  • Did you know that according to Chinese astrology the year of one’s birth sign is the most unlucky year in the cycle.

  • The different animal signs all indicate different personality traits of people born within that sign. Roosters are said to be observant, hardworking, active, amusing and popular among a crowd.

  • The main two reasons for the festival is first to celebrate a year of hard work , have a good rest and relax with family and loved ones and secondly to wish for a lucky and prosperous coming year.
